How It's Made: Our Laser Engraving Process
Every Gift Is Made Here. In Holbrook, Long Island.
Most personalized gift companies have a warehouse that receives your order, prints a label, and ships you something made in a factory overseas. We don't work that way. Every order that comes into Just A Little Gift is made in our workshop — by our family, using professional equipment, in Holbrook, New York.
Here's exactly how your gift goes from an order to your door.
Step 1: Your Order Comes In
When you check out, your personalization goes directly into our production queue. We review every order before it goes to the laser — checking spelling, layout, and that the personalization field is complete. If something looks off, we email you before we make it.
Step 2: We Set Up Your File
Our team creates or pulls your engraving file. For standard text (a name, a date, a short message), this takes minutes. For custom designs or logos, we build the file from scratch. Everything is reviewed at 1:1 scale before the laser runs.
Step 3: The Laser Runs
This is where the gift becomes permanent. We use two professional-grade laser systems depending on your product:
Trotec 80W CO₂ Laser
Our Trotec is the system we use for tumblers, glassware, metal items, and small engravings requiring high precision. Trotec is the industry standard for professional laser engraving — the same machines used by high-end trophy shops and industrial manufacturers. At 80 watts, it cuts through stainless steel finishes and anodized aluminum with clean, deep, consistent lines.
Boss 1630 Laser
Our Boss handles large-format work — graduation signs, wood plaques, acrylic panels, and anything that needs a wider engraving bed. The 1630 refers to the 16" × 30" work area, which lets us engrave full-size signs without repositioning. We use this for our most popular product: the 22" personalized graduation sign.
ColDesi UV-24H3R Flatbed Printer
For designs that need full color — photo-quality images, vibrant backgrounds, UV DTF prints — we use our ColDesi UV flatbed printer. This machine prints directly onto rigid surfaces and produces prints that are scratch-resistant, waterproof, and permanent.
Step 4: Inspection
Every finished piece is inspected before it's packed. We check the engraving depth, alignment, spelling, and finish quality. If anything is off, we remake it before it ships. This step is non-negotiable — we won't ship something we wouldn't give as a gift ourselves.
Step 5: Packing and Shipping
Orders are packed in our Holbrook workshop and handed off to USPS, UPS, or FedEx depending on your shipping selection. Most orders ship within 1–4 business days of your order. You'll receive a tracking number by email the moment your package leaves.
Why This Matters
Laser engraving removes material from the surface — it doesn't apply ink, vinyl, or a sticker. The engraving is part of the object. It cannot peel, fade, wash off, or wear away with normal use. When you buy a personalized gift from Just A Little Gift, you're buying something that will still look exactly the same in 20 years.
That's what "made in-house" actually means. We control every step. We stake our name on every piece.
